New Site

We're making a change to the way that we release work for our classes. The main lessons (the things that we'll do in class each day) will now be found at the site "Optimal Beneficial Moreover Detrimental: Classroom." We're keeping this site, with a slightly different name, in order to release a reading a day for students to practice their reading at home. Each post will contain a link to a reading, along with a list of assignments that can be completed for that reading.

Social Studies - Language Arts Interdisciplinary Writing Prompt

This week's essay forces you to assume a role and write from that perspective, so don't forget the RAFT skill - it's our easiest skill, but also easiest to forget doing.
The teachers in eighth grade Social Studies and Language have convened and arrived at a prompt that will test both Writing Skills and Social Studies content knowledge.

Make sure that you use the knowledge about this period in American history in order to make your supporting arguments as strong as you can. If you fudge the truth, you might fool your English teacher, but it will cost you on your Social Studies grade.

Click here to access a "View Only" copy of the writing prompt. Make sure to click File, then Make a Copy, to get a version of it that you can type on. Don't forget to use reasons, facts, and examples from what you've learned in Social Studies to make your article persuasive.
